Winner & Veteran's Day Giveaway

Hey, everyone! I used a random number generator to choose the winner of the AMERICAN HEROES in SPECIAL OPERATIONS book by Oliver North and Chuck Holton. The generator chose "K" (who signed the entry "Kim") as the winner! I'll email you, Kim, then it'll be up to you to reply with your snail mail address so I can get this amazing book to you!

Okay, moving on...

WIN a copy of Nightshade AND Digitalis!!!

In honor of VETERAN'S DAY and the January 1st release of DIGITALIS, Discarded Heroes #2, I am doing a give away. One winner will receive an autographed copy of Nightshade AND Digitalis, which releases January 1st (winner will receive this book when I get my author's copies that usually arrive a couple of weeks before the books hit stores).

All you have to do is tell me about one American veteran you knew or know. I'll start by mentioning that my husband, Brian, served in the Army. His career was cut terribly short by a massive knee injury that required reconstruction. He was so devastated, but God used that blown knee and big black brace to introduce Brian to his future wife--me! :-D I tease him that he used the "Wounded Knee" routine very well to ensnare my sympathies and heart.

Also, Brian's father served in the Army, winning many awards, including the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Order of Saint Michael. He flew Hueys in Nam and led a long, distinguished career. He's a man I highly respect and count it such an honor to be a part of his family. He's truly an American Hero, even though he'd probably argue that being the quiet, humble man that he is--but isn't THAT as much of what a "hero" is in the first place? I dedicated DIGITALIS to him. :-D

So, there you go--leave a comment and share. I will pick a winner next Friday!

  1. Both my father and grandfather were in the military. I appreciate our troops who are giving us our freedom every day. I read Nightshade but would love to win Digitalis. It has been on my wish list since I read Nightshade. Loved it! Please enter me. Thanks!

  2. Thank you to your father and grandfather for their service, to your family for the sacrifices made.

Thanks for the comment about Nightshade, Charity. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I"m really excited about DIGITALIS' release, and so glad someone else is too. :-D

I never knew my dad's brother J.A. who died during WWII and was buried in England. I have a brother-in-law who retired from the Navy and among other things served on the U.S.S. Saratoga. My other brother-in-law is retired Air Force and currently serves in the Coast Guard reserve. My nephew has been in the Air Force since 2001 and is currently training boom operators.

Enjoyed Nightshade and eagerly awaiting Digitalis. Will be reading it even if I don't win.

  4. Wow, Pam! Incredible legacy of heroes in your family. What a blessing and honor. Thank you to all your family's heroes for their sacrifices!

  5. Isn't it amazing that many of our American Heroes are quiet, humble men? Thanks to your husband and his father for their service to our great nation. (loved the 'Wounded Knee' story. *grin*)

I'm proud to say that my father was an Army mechanic in Viet Nam, several of my great uncles served in either WWII or Korea, and I have at least a half dozen cousins who have served (four of those - 3 brothers and 1 sister - were career military).

Thank you for the chance to win your books, Ronie. I'm looking forward to reading them.

  6. My dad served 21 yrs in the Navy, mostly on the USS Shangri la, an aircraft carrier. But, the reason I am commenting is because both of my sons are in Civil Air Patrol, an auxiliary of the US Air force, and many of the senior members who work with these young cadets are veterans of Korea and Vietnam, having served in all branches of our military. They spend many hours each week encouraging and teaching our sons about honor, integrity, loyalty, and courage.

I read your book Nightshade, and look forward to reading Digitalis!

  7. My dad was in the Naval Reserves during World War II. He spent the war stateside as a Japanese translator. He thought he was going to be shipped overseas, but the war ended and he was never deployed.

  8. I forgot to add that my cousin is a Commander in the Merchant Marines.

  9. My father-in-law served in Vietnam, he was on a ship in the Navy. My father was a airplane mechanic in the AirForce along with my Uncle. Now i have a brother in the Navy who is stationed in Washington State, and he comes home for six months and he serves on a ship out on the ocean for six months. Those are the hardest times because he cant tell us where he is.
I would love to read your books, please include me in the giveaway.

  10. Wow. I am loving your stories. Thank you for sharing them with me.

Jenny - I can't believe I didn't mention it, but my dad was a mechanic in Vietnam as well. :-D

Anne - Civil Air Patrol--how kewl is that?!?! Thanks for sharing about their service to our country. What a proud mom you must be!

Wow, Carolyn--a translator? That's a really kewl job. Fascinating. Might have to work something like that into a future book. :-D

Heidi - Thanks for sharing the legacy of honor you have in your family.

I am praying God watches over all your family members who are serving abroad and at home.

My Grandpa and my Uncle were in the armed forces. My Grandpa was in the Navy and served in the Korean war. He flew the TBF target plane and was the radio man.
He received a Good Conduct award.
My Uncle was in the army and was about to serve in the Vietnam conflict but they took him out because the war had just ended! My Grandma was very thankful!

  13. Whoa. My apologies everyone. I completley spaced on this. Through a random number generator, it chose entry #1--CHARITY--as the winner!!
